January - May
Spring AB baseball is the pre-cursor to Summer All-Stars and is played at a significantly increased competitive level than Rec or Fall AB Baseball. Spring AB requires a tryout and a team selection to either one of our “Elite” or “Select” teams and is extremely competitive in that selection process. These tryouts are held at prior to start of the Spring Rec Baseball season to determine what teams your player is eligible. Spring AB Baseball provides the opportunity for teams to compete in many local and non-local tournaments. Players and Parents can expect a significantly higher level of commitment, increased coaching, greater player accountability where playing time is earned and not guaranteed, some travel, and a greater financial commitment. Financial commitments are determined by the Head Coaches and Team Managers and are based on the amount of baseball that will be played during the season and if and what teams may decide to purchase for their players. Funds can be paid out of pocket or can be raised through fundraising, sponsorships, and/or through volunteering to work the Mills Fields Concession Stand. To ease some of that financial burden, JCB provides jerseys and hats for each AB team, as well.
In the spring season, JCB DK teams (12u and older) have the opportunity to volunteer with Field of Dreams. Field of Dreams is a specially designed baseball field that allows children with intellectual or physical disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. JCB players are buddied up with Field of Dreams players to help them play the baseball. It is one of the most rewarding parts of being with JCB!
