Ray Wilkins generously volunteered with JCB for 15 years in many roles. He started as a T-Ball coach in 2005 and coached teams through 2017, including a 12U Cooperstown Team. Ray also coached Advanced Baseball teams for 10 years and in the spring of 2013, his 11U All-Star Team won a state championship. He has served as Rookie Commissioner for two years, Majors Commissioner for two years, and Travel Team Commissioner for five years (until the travel program was detached by CAA). In 2012, he became Umpire Commissioner developing the Teen Umpire Training program and serving in that position through the fall of 2020. His dedication to the JCB players and the teen umpire program is worthy of recognition and appreciation. Ray retired from the Board in 2021 and in honor of his hard work with our community’s baseball youth, the JCB Board is excited to offer our players and teen umpires the JCB Wilkins Scholarship Program.
The scholarship is an annual $500 award to a JCB registered player or teen umpire (qualifications are described in the guidance document below). Applicants must have a goal of pursuing further education beyond high school. The award is a $500 check to be used for an institution of higher learning or a trade school.
